Stop 2 – Trees

A small area of broadleaf plantation can be viewed on the left side of the track with immature Oak, Beech, Rowan and Larch.

The densely planted trees do not allow much light to penetrate to the forest floor but a range of species can still be seen here including Ivy, Bramble, Bilberry, Hard fern, Broad buckler-fern and Heathers.

The Peacock butterfly with its red upper wings with vivid blue eyespots has been previously seen around this section of the trail.
