On a sunny day, the contrast between the dark, heavily shaded forests of mature Sitka spruce and Noble fir and the dappled sunlight of the track margin and Beech trees can be seen.
Listen to the birds chattering deep inside the forestry. Bracken and Foxglove grow abundantly in the clearing on the righthand side of the track.
As we near the junction, a carpet of Great wood-rush can be seen under the Beech trees.
Watch out for Speckled wood butterflies which bask in a small pool of sunlight on vegetation before performing vigorous aerial duels with encroaching males in its territory.
