Community First Responders Group

The newly formed Watergrasshill Community First Responders Group (Live date with National Ambulance Service March 2024) are voluntary group of local people who assist the National Ambulance Service with cardiac & medical emergencies.

We currently have about 10 members who are trained up to respond to certain types of emergency calls in the vital first few minutes before the ambulance crew arrives.

Their role is to help stabilise the patient and provide the appropriate care including defibrillation, until the more highly skilled ambulance crew arrives on scene to take over the treatment.  The group is linked to the National Emergency Operations Centre and is alerted to an emergency in their area and as they are community based, can provide medical assistance within minutes of a 112/999 call being received.

We training once a month both in the Community Centre & “off site” with various scenarios
