Eamonn claimed a Munster senior football title as Cork manager in 1983 and from 1990 to 1994 he was coach to Cork minor football teams who won 3 Munster titles and 2 All Irelands. In recent times (2016 – 2018) he was a selector with the Cork senior footballers.

Watergrasshill Community Association, in conjunction with Avondhu Blackwater Partnership, carried out a village enhancement design plan for Watergrasshill. As part of this process we engaged the professional services of Cathal O Meara Landscape Architects in Fermoy.

Members of the public, local community and voluntary groups were invited to two public meetings/workshops (November, December 2019) to participate in a collaborative process to create an environmental design plan for Watergrasshill. It was the intention of this plan to identify the needs of the village and capture the intentions of our community for the foreseeable future. This plan was used as a basis for funding applications under various initiatives and has been led by and monitored by our Planning & Development Action Group.

Attached, final draft, of Watergrasshill “Plaza”, located at the top of the village. Work has commenced on this project. This public events space project is expected to take 4-5 weeks to completion.

Of course, Watergrasshill village enhancement will not stop here. A decorative seating area has also been designed and will be completed within the same time frame, located the Fermoy side of the village. We will continue to source funding and over the next few weeks/months/years and the Association will embark on a house to house questionnaire survey within the village looking for information & feedback on a wide range of topics.

Watergrasshill Community Association are working simultaneously on several projects within our village with details to be released soon.

Cork County Council have been an integral part of these projects and we thank them sincerely for all their help in seeing these through to the end. Their guidance greatly appreciated.

Watergrasshill Community Association have been working on this for a few weeks, in cooperation with Avondhu Blackwater Partnership, our village environmental design project, where through the appointment of a professional landscape architect, Cathal O Meara Architects, who are based in Fermoy, create a plan for our village. They will engage with our community through at least 2 public workshops, coordinated by the Community Association, identifying needs and opportunities, to establish what we would like our village environs to look like and include. The outcome will be a design & environmental plan for Watergrasshill. This is a fabulous opportunity for us all to have a say in what/how we would like the landscape of our village to look like….This final design should give us opportunities to approach the relevant authorities to move this project forward…

To note, this was a design model only.

We would hope, through a Representative Forum, made up of a representative or 2 from various community stakeholders e.g. – resident associations, Community Association, GAA, soccer, athletics, cycling, scouts, tidy towns, parish assembly, local businesses, indeed the entire Community and local public , that through engagement we can brainstorm together and avail of this unique opportunity.
